First year graduate internship was serving as the youngest house mother in the country to a fraternity. This live-in position provided a unique perspective on fraternity life. Duties also entailed working with the Greek life team to plan and implement leadership training opportunities for one of the largest Greek systems in the Mid-West.

Began my own speaking and training business in 1993 with the vision of using my high energy, unique insights and knowledge to continue making a difference in other’s lives. As a young mother of two children (15 months apart) it was my goal to achieve a greater sense of balance in my life and leadership. Using previous and targeted clients, my audiences were organized initially in the higher education arena. Now, they include other non-profit helping organizations, women’s professional development conferences and businesses. Responsibilities include all aspects of owning a business from marketing to contracting. Since 1993, appearances include over 600 institutions of higher education, numerous national, regional, state and local conferences and mass media appearances. My on-line store hosts a line of promotional products and training resources.

Initial responsibilities included student activities, all campus programming board, club sports, Greek life, new student orientation, parent programs, women’s programming, student leadership training and special programs. Responsibilities shifted to Greek life and new student orientation. In the area of Greek life this position included all officer training, Greek judicial training, liaison with chapter advisors, alumni boards, national officers and chapter officers, and serving as Interfraternity/Panhellenic and Greek Council advisor. Other functions included all of the planning and implementation components of new student and parent orientation including orientation leader selection and training, program development, and editing all new student and parent correspondence and publications.

Responsibilities included working as a member of the Thwing Center staff and advising all aspects of the campus programming board from event planning to event supervision. Areas of expertise included promotion of events, recruitment and retention of volunteers and creative programming.
